Sport Ecology

As a research assistant at the Chair of Biogeography and Sports Ecology, I am exploring how human-environment conflicts can be resolved in a sustainable manner. The project “Effectiveness of Cost-Efficient Preventive Measures Against Otter Damage to Pond Systems” focuses on reducing existing conflicts between pond farming and otters.

The goal of the project is to develop practical solutions for long-term coexistence based on robust data collection and scientific analysis. To this end, we are studying the population dynamics of otters in pond landscapes and evaluating various measures for protecting pond systems in terms of their effectiveness and feasibility.
